About Breast/Chestfeeding Friendly Locations
In 2020, New Haven Breastfeeding Task Force members created “Know Your Rights” flyers, which highlight the Connecticut state law requiring time and space to pump at work.
The Task Force is currently working with the Connecticut Breastfeeding Coalition (CBC) and other community partners to set up lactation rooms in public spaces, like New Haven’s Union Station. The Task Force is also working to support local businesses in receiving the CBC’s Breast/Chestfeeding Friendly Worksite Designation.
Receiving the Breast/Chestfeeding Friendly Worksite Designation publicly indicates that a business provides their employees with time, space, and a policy for pumping in the workplace.
Task Force members are also partnering with local businesses to put “we support breast/chestfeeding any time, any place” decals on storefront windows. The decals provide public support for breast/chestfeeding by New Haven community members.
